Silksong is the best game I’ve played in years. I would probably say in decades if it weren't for Outer Wilds, which skews the results. And no, it’s not too difficult. It is difficult, but Team Cherry can’t change that. An easy mode would rob this game of its soul.

This game is almost a "Metroidbrainia", where the only way to progress is knowledge; knowledge of the enemies’ attack patterns and the reflexes to deal with them. If you could just hack and slash your way through, all that would be lost, along with the incredible feeling of accomplishment when you realize you’ve achieved the ability to bully the hell out of Last Judge and not even break a sweat.

I’m no pro gamer. I still have a hard time in parts of Hollow Knight after all these years. But Silksong is near perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I’m sure Clair Obscur is a great game, but RPGs don’t really appeal to me. Silksong is easily my Game of the Year.
